Day 1 1/1/10 Picture

This is my first picture of the year. I had my husband dress up and act like a bad guy. I wanted to get the end of the gun in sharp focus and blur the rest. I used my macro lens for this and I'm really loving the black and white take on this.

A favorite from last year...

I thought I would start off this year by posting some of my favorites from last year. I have been reading a lot of photography books and started taking my pictures in manual mode. This is one of the road into a place we have in Rockford, AL. As you can tell from the road, it is in the middle of nowhere. I love it there because there is no cell service and no one around. It is so much fun to go out and ride around on the 4wheeler. This time I made Chris take me out with my camera and I got lots of great pictures. This has to be one of my favorites.

Trying this again..

As you can see I didn't get this done last year so I'm going to try again. I may not always post every day but I'm going to try.

What Is It #1?

I have been out and about with my new macro lens. Thought it would be fun to post some pictures and see if you can guess what it is. Here is the first one. Can you guess what it is?

Here is another spring flower picture I took!

My favorite recent picture

I must say this is the favorite flower shot that I have taken lately. I was walking the kids to the bus line and noticed tulips blooming. I made a friend go back with me when I had my camera with the macro lens ready to go. I love the faded look of this shot! It was a windy day and the flowers kept blowing around so I'm shocked I got such a good shot!

Washington Monument

These are a few pictures I took of the Washington Monument. The first one was taken from the WWII Memorial. The other was taken from the base of the WM. Check out the 2 colors on it. Did you know that when they were building it they ran out of money and had to quit. When they went back to it they couldn't find the correct color so they went with it. Do you know the difference between a memorial and a monument?

While in D.C. we got to tour the inside of the Capitol building. There were lots of statues and neat things to photograph. My favorite part was the top of the inside of the dome. So beautiful!

Just got home...

...from D.C.. I went to Washington D.C. with some of my students and we had a great time. It was cold and it drizzled on us the entire time we were there. As a parting gift, the sun came out as we were getting on the bus to go home. So over the next few days I'll be posting some of the pictures I took while on the trip. This one was taken at the Lincoln Memorial. It was lit up at night and it actually looked like Lincoln was glowing!
The last picture was taken with my camera, however, my friend Kelly took it. I wanted a picture of me standing next to Lincoln. It is amazing how big he really is! Funny, he never looked that big on the penny!

Leigha, Kara, Kayla, and Chris

OK, I didn't take the photos but I thought they should be shared all the same. My sister-in-law took these adorable photos of my nieces Leigha and Kara. They are twins but look nothing alike.

I used my new Photoshop Elements program to edit the color and keep the original eye color. I really like the way they look. Leigha's eyes pop a little more because they are blue. It was something I enjoyed doing.

I also took this picture (at Christmas) of another of my adorable nieces, Kayla, and my husband Chris. Kayla is Leigha and Kara's big sister. In the original she had food on her face. As you can see, the food has been removed. How neat is that???
