These clouds just blew in from nowhere. I was sitting out back and one minute the sun was out and the next this is what it looked like. I'm still waiting for the rain.
Today my assignment was to use different flashes and take pictures of someone inside. I couldn't get anyone to come over so I took some pictures of myself. I think using the Speedlite straight on washed me out too much. The last picture here is bouncing the flash off the ceiling and that made it look a little better. However, to my surprise, the pop up flash on the camera looked a little better to me. Did I mention how hard it is to use manual focus when you take pictures of yourself?
I had fun taking pictures of Cassie today. These are just a few of the shots I took. This first one cracked me up because she was laying in the grass and looking straight up at the sky. I had her close her eyes and open on the count of 3. Only problem, she opened her mouth too. I thought it made a cute pictures. Can you say personality?
For this one she squatted down because she didn't want to sit in the grass and get ants on her.
I went to take pictures of Wade's race car yesterday and a big storm blew in. I have several pictures but I just don't think they look crisp. Maybe I'm just being too picky.
Wow, it is hard to take pictures in maual mode at the rodeo. I took a ton of pictures but these two are the best ones. I was using my 50mm lens because it was the only one I could use that allowed enough light in for the shutter speed I needed to freeze the action. Plus there were bars where we were sitting so it was impossible to get a shot without the bars in the way.
I went to Cassie's game tonight and took lots of pictures. I'm proud of myself because these were all taken in manual mode and using manual focus. Great game Cassie!
I went to my brother's house for the girls' birthday party yesterday. I was taking these in manual mode and using manual focus. Oh how I struggled with lighting and focus. I was still able to capture some good pictures of the birthday girls.
This is a flower on a plant that one of my student's parent gave me at the end of the school year. Everyone is shocked that I haven't killed it yet. I feel that day is coming soon but I thought I'd take a picture before that happens.
Here's another pic I took for my class. The next assignment is going to be a challenge. I have to take pictures of things with bright colors. Guess I'll have to get out and search.
I just signed up for an on-line photography class. I took several pictures yesterday with several different settings. I think the hardest part so far is using manual focus.
I am continuing to take pictures on a regular basis. I take most of my pictures in manual mode now and I'm getting more comfortable doing so. I still want to practice my people picture skills. My favorite type of picture is macro.
I've been getting serious about photography for a little over two years. I want to learn everything I can so I read lots of books (my friends give me a hard time and tell me I'm reading textbooks).
