Our New House!
Originally uploaded by shaddybaby

This is a picture of our first house. Chris and I signed the contract today and it should be finished in time to close the end of April. I'm so excited that I can't stand it! I've taken tons of pictures and posted them on my flickr photostream if you want to see. I'm posting the first picture I took of the outside.

Bonus Shot- Rainbow

Rainbow
Originally uploaded by shaddybaby

The weather was horrible the other day. I was taking my dog out and saw a rainbow. You have to look close to see it but I was able to catch it! Too bad I couldn't find that pot of gold at the end of it. I'm just posting it because I left the card in my camera. I didn't think I had gotten anything but was surprised when I went to upload some pictures today. It isn't as bright as I'd like it to be but it is what it is.

Day 85- Tiny Glass Bottles

Tiny Glass Bottles
Originally uploaded by shaddybaby

OK, I'm not really working with a theme here but I have 2 pictures in a row that would fit in a theme together. Maybe infinity? I had a harder time making these look like they were going on forever because I had a lot less of these little bottles than the reinkers from yesterday. I hope the sun stays out so I might be able to get out and about tomorrow to take some pictures.

I decided to line up some of the reinkers for my stamp pads. They are in little dropper bottles. I lined them up randomly and wanted to focus on the tops. I tried to set it up so it looks like they go on forever. I could probably line them up so they really go on forever but this isn't even 1/4th of what I have.

This is my shot for "Old Fashioned." This is a ring my great grandmother gave me when I was born. She didn't want me to forget her. Gran-gran lived until I was in my early 20's. I love this ring and think of her every time I wear it.

Day 76- Capitol Dome

I'm cheating again today but I got so many good pictures on my trip that I have to share them. The sun is suppose to come out again tomorrow so I'm going to try to get some new pictures.

These pictures are some of the ones I took in the Capitol. This is the dome and the art work is so amazing.

I also love the Iwo Jima Memorial. It is another of my favorites. I got more of a silhouette picture for this one because of the lighting/rain. This one turned out better than one I took a few years ago.

I believe the Korean War Memorial is my all time favorite. My father in law was in the Korean War. There are statues that are so realistic. The wall doesn't have names, but photos etched in it. This memorial just speaks to me. I always look forward to visiting this one each year.

And my last picture for today is so fitting. They are the actually ruby slippers worn in the Wizard of Oz. The Smithsonian was the last stop before eating and getting on the bus to head home. I so wanted to put them on and click my heels to be home. There really is no place like home!

This is one of my favorite pictures from my D.C. trip. These are the feet/shoes of one of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. These guys spend 8 hours shining their shoes so I had to take a picture.

I have so many pictures from the trip. If you want to see more check out the set I created on my flickr account.

The last picture here is of Kermit, my favorite frog. Totally opposite ends of the spectrum right? A somber soldier picture and Kermit, but that's what we saw Monday. Kermit is at the Smithsonian. He is is a glass case so this was as good as it got with a picture. But I couldn't walk past Kermit without a quick shot.

Settings: f/4.5, ss 1/8 sec., ISO-400

I took this picture at the FDR Memorial. This is the first time I have visited this memorial. There were lots of water falls there so I had to play a little with my shutter speed to get a good picture of the flowing water.

Day 70- Packing

I haven't had time to take any pictures today because I've been busy getting ready for my annual D.C. trip. Every year my friend Kelly and I take a group of 5th grade students. So I've been packing and running around town picking up last minute things. I won't be posting here until mid week next week because I won't have internet access. However, I plan to catch up when I return. Check back next week for some new D.C. photos. The picture I'm posting today is from last year's trip.

Day 69- Cow Eyeball

Today I dissected cow eyes with my 5th grade students. They were so excited they couldn't stand it. I did one and they followed along with their own. They said I had to take pictures of it and post on our class web site. I even had kids that brought their own cameras so they could take pictures too.

Some of these were hard to get a good picture of. Thankfully this was something I could take lots of pictures of and try to get a good one.

I hope I haven't grossed anyone out too much. I tell my kids gloves are for wimps so we all dissected with our bare hands. The kids loved it!

Chris and I went out to take some pictures this afternoon. We went all around and came back by the airport. The Air Force was practicing and I got lots of pictures of this plane. It was circling around, coming in for a landing, and then taking right back up again.

Check out my flickr photostream to see a few more pictures from today. I'd love some CC & feedback. I used my new 50 mm lens to take the other pictures on flickr. I really think I'm going to like that lens!

Originally uploaded by shaddybaby

No, look closer. Inside are cow eyeballs. We are dissecting them next week and I didn't have a container for them. So we put them in a cheese ball container. I doubt anyone will mistake the cow eyes for cheese balls. I just thought it was comical.
